KCET Amritsar signs MoU with IIT Ropar for Cutting-Edge CPS Lab

In a groundbreaking move toward fostering innovation and deep tech advancements, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Ranjit Avenue has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Ropar’s Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub (AWaDH).

The MoU, signed marks the beginning of a dynamic collaboration aimed at setting up a state-of-the-art Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab at college campus.

The MoU was signed between Dr. Radhika Trikha (CEO of IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation) and Dr. Manju Bala, Director KCET. This partnership is set to boost research and training in Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems, providing students with invaluable hands-on experience in these critical fields.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manju Bala emphasized the transformative impact of the MoU. She said that this collaboration is a leap forward in providing students with world-class training and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

The CPS Lab will not only foster innovation but also help in the development of sustainable solutions for real-world challenges in agriculture, water management, and beyond. She emphasized that with AWaDH’s support, students and faculty will get unparalleled opportunities for research and entrepreneurship, empowering them to be industry-ready and future leaders in technology.

The CPS Lab, to be established through a shared investment model between AWaDH and KCET, will serve as a hub for IoT prototyping, smart technology training, and innovation in industrial automation. KCET will provide the infrastructure, while AWaDH will contribute essential CPS components and offer comprehensive training to ensure the lab’s success.

Dr. Radhika Trikha, CEO of IIT Ropar’s Technology and Innovation Foundation, also shared her views and said that AWaDH, is committed to driving sustainable tech solutions, and this collaboration with KCET will enable students to work on cutting-edge innovations and help translate research into practical, impactful outcomes.

She said that the aim of this collaboration is to push the boundaries of technology and develop solutions that serve society and the environment. She also added that students will be given financial support upto Rs. 3 Lakhs for their projects.

Aatif Jamal (Senior Manager), Sonia Sharma (Young Professional) both from IIT Ropar; Er. Bikramjeet Singh (Registrar), Rajeev Sharma (PRO) and Dr. Maalti Puri (IQAC, Coordinator) from College were present during the MoU signing ceremony.

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina (honorary, Secretary, Khalsa College Charitable Society), congratulated Dr. Bala for this collaboration.

He said that this collaboration promises to put KCET on the map as a leader in engineering education and technological research. The AWaDH CPS Lab will be a game-changer, preparing students to contribute to India’s growing tech ecosystem while addressing urgent issues in agriculture and water management.
