Chandigarh, October 7, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)
Haryana Police has made extensive security arrangements for the counting of votes in the Assembly elections scheduled for October 8. The state has established a three-tier security system around the 90 counting centers.
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel are stationed at the first level of security, while Haryana Armed Police (HAP/IRB) officers are deployed at the second level, with district police personnel positioned at the third level.
A total of approximately 12,000 police officers have been assigned to ensure security across these centers. Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur congratulated the police for the peaceful conduct of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Extensive Security Arrangements at 90 Strong Rooms Equipped with CCTV:
DGP Shatrujeet Kapur, providing details, stated that a sufficient number of police officers have been deployed at every counting center. In addition to 30 CAPF and 30 IRB/HAP units, district police officers have been assigned across the state. Police checkpoints have been established within a 100-meter perimeter of the counting centers.
CCTV cameras have been installed in all 90 strong rooms, enabling close monitoring of all activities. Unauthorized individuals are strictly prohibited from entering these areas. Police commissioners and superintendents have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Restricted Access to Counting Centers:
The DGP emphasized that unauthorized individuals will not be allowed to enter the counting centers. A traffic diversion plan has been prepared to manage traffic flow around these centers. CCTV cameras have been installed from the main gate to the entire premises of the counting centers, ensuring surveillance of every activity.
Male and female police officers have been deployed for frisking individuals entering the premises. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) are also on standby to maintain law and order.
Separate Sections and Entrances for Different Groups:
Providing more details about the arrangements, the DGP informed that each counting center will have three separate entrances – one each for counting staff, agents, and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Separate sections have also been established within the centers. Parking arrangements for representatives of political parties and counting staff have been made, along with other basic facilities. Fire safety services and ambulances will also be stationed at the centers.
Haryana Police Fully Prepared for the Counting Process:
DGP Kapur mentioned that counting will begin at 8 AM on October 8. Every aspect of the counting process has been carefully studied to ensure a smooth operation. Senior officials from Haryana Police will monitor the situation, and strict action will be taken against any attempts to disrupt law and order.
Peaceful Completion of Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections in Haryana:
It is noteworthy that the Lok Sabha elections on May 25 and the Assembly elections on October 4 were conducted peacefully across the state, with no reports of any untoward incidents or the need for re-polling. This marks the first time in the last 20 years that no re-polling was required during both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Haryana.
The Election Commission has commended the state’s efforts for conducting free and fair elections. DGP Kapur extended his best wishes to all police officers for their hard work and urged them to continue working with the same dedication in the future.
