79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at district-level Independence Day function held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Amritsar here today.
Honorable Minister Dr Balbir Singh, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Punjab, was the chief guest and hoisted the Tricolour. The minister urged people to celebrate the national festival with enthusiasm and rekindle the spirit of patriotism, brotherhood and harmony.
Various teams of Punjab Police, women’s platoon of the state police, Home Guards, Children’s Police Band participated in the parade.
NCC contingent comprising of 7 platoon, 214 NCC cadets of the Amritsar NCC group also marched smartly in the Parade
Students of different schools presented a Gymnast show, cultural programme comprising of giddha, bhangra and folk dances followed by National Anthem on the occasion.
