CM’s residence in Patna renamed to Lok Sewak Awas; Samrat Choudhary likely to shift soon

Patna, May 6, 2026

In a significant administrative decision, the Bihar government has renamed the Chief Minister’s official residence-cum-office in Patna as “Lok Sewak Awas”.

A formal notification to this effect was issued by the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday.

The iconic 1 Anne Marg bungalow, long known as the official residence of the Bihar Chief Minister, has now been allocated to the incumbent Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

At present, however, Samrat Choudhary continues to stay at the 5 Deshratna Marg, the residence designated for the Deputy Chief Minister.

The 1 Anne Marg residence was recently vacated by former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who stepped down from office on April 14.

Nitish Kumar had occupied the residence for nearly two decades, with the exception of a brief period between 2014 and 2015 when Jitan Ram Manjhi served as the Chief Minister and resided there.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary visited his home district, Munger and Khagaria, where he reviewed several ongoing development projects.

At Munger, he inspected the proposed Munger–Bhagalpur Ganga Path (Marine Drive) project at Babua Ghat.

After reviewing a detailed presentation, Samrat Choudhary said that the project would boost regional development, improve traffic flow, and strengthen tourism and the local economy.

He also interacted with Bharatiya Janata Party workers during a district-level training programme organised under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Training Mahabhiyan–2026, emphasising organisational strength, worker dedication, and effective training.

During his visit, Chief Minister Choudhary also offered prayers at the revered Jyoti Temple, seeking peace, prosperity, and progress for the state.

Later, in Khagaria, the Chief Minister inspected the under-construction Sultanganj–Aguwani Ghat bridge over the Ganga river and directed officials to expedite the work while maintaining quality standards.

He noted that the bridge would significantly improve connectivity and accelerate regional development.

He also reviewed progress on the State Highway-95 Khagaria–Saharsa road project, reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure across Bihar.

During his visit, Chief Minister Choudhary offered prayers at the Katyayani Sthan Temple, where he also inspected ongoing renovation and beautification work.

He instructed government officials to ensure the timely and high-quality execution of the project.(Agency)
