Disha : an initiative run and managed by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust has set a new benchmark in experiential learning by hosting Jalandhar’s first-ever hands-on’ The Big Barnyard – The Field Adventure’ theme-based event aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action).
The groundbreaking event, held at Innocent Hearts Green Fields in Loharan, offered students from Grades KG to 5 an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature and experience the rustic charm of a barnyard and understand the importance of sustainable farming.
The event was open to students from all branches of Innocent Hearts, as well as for outsiders.Parents accompanied their children for the adventures. According to the National Educational Policy 2020, NEP’s parental engagement directives inspired Disha Initiative to create an immersive experience promoting family bonding and experiential learning.”
The event’s mini-farm, crafted from repurposed waste, showcased creative waste management and sustainable practices,inspiring environmental stewardship and responsible citizenship The mini-farm was complete with hay bales, tractors, and farm animals. Guests enjoyed immersive activities, including petting zoos, pony rides, and farm-themed games. Live music, food stalls, and a photo booth with farm-themed props added to the festive atmosphere.
Dr. Palak Gupta Bowry, Director CSR, emphasized, “This unique event seamlessly connects children with rural charm, fostering hands-on learning, a deeper appreciation for nature, and climate awareness. By promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship, we’re empowering the next generation to take action against climate change.”
