Paramjit Singh Kainth, Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha, has welcomed the decision of the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release ₹7,981.47 crore for the welfare of over 7.5 million Scheduled Caste beneficiaries during the financial year 2025–26.
He stated that the allocation reflects a structured and outcome-oriented approach toward inclusive development and social justice. “This is not merely expenditure, but a structural investment in the human capital of historically marginalized communities,” he said.
Kainth noted that the funds have been disbursed through various schemes under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, with a focus on education and socio-economic advancement. He highlighted significant increases in scholarships: 21% in Pre-Matric, 11.23% in Post-Matric, and 13.5% under the Top Class Education scheme.
Referring to the SHRESHTA scheme, he stated that expenditure has increased by 16% to provide quality residential education to students in targeted high schools, thereby strengthening access to quality secondary education.
On financial inclusion, Kainth informed that the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) has disbursed ₹223.47 crore to 29,448 beneficiaries during FY 2025–26, with approximately 97% being women. The average loan size has increased to ₹77,000, supporting self-employment and micro-enterprises.
He emphasized that the welfare framework is not limited to Scheduled Castes but also covers OBCs, senior citizens, victims of substance abuse, the transgender community, Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNTs), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), reflecting a broader inclusion strategy.
Kainth urged the Punjab Government to ensure last-mile delivery of these schemes, strengthen administrative coordination, and intensify awareness campaigns so that maximum beneficiaries can avail the benefits.
He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing toward a transparent, accountable, and results-driven welfare system aimed at empowering the most disadvantaged sections of society.
Concluding, Kainth said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India is steadily advancing towards a transparent, accountable, and delivery-oriented welfare framework, with a clear focus on empowering the most deprived sections of society.
