Amritsar, Nov 19, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who is an active member of the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), led an important meeting in Kochi today focused on OBC welfare. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen representation, opportunities, and welfare policies aimed at the OBC community.

During the meeting, MP Aujla held detailed discussions with representatives of the OBC Employees’ Welfare Union/Association of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). Several key issues were raised regarding fair representation for OBC employees in LIC, transparency in promotions, proper implementation of reservation policies, and improving welfare schemes for the community.

The representatives presented their demands, concerns, and suggestions before the committee and MP Aujla.

MP Aujla emphasized that providing fair opportunities to the OBC community in employment and promotions is not only a constitutional right but also an essential step toward social equality and inclusion. He stated that issues related to OBC employees in a major institution like LIC must be addressed promptly and effectively.

After the meeting with LIC representatives, MP Aujla also met senior officials of the Ministry of Finance (Department of Financial Services) and the Life Insurance Corporation of India.

The meeting involved a detailed review of the current status of OBC reservation and welfare measures and highlighted areas where immediate improvements are required. MP Aujla directed officials to ensure timely resolution of pending issues and to speed up the implementation of policies intended to benefit OBC communities.

He further stressed that the purpose of the Parliamentary Committee is not merely to prepare reports but to ensure real and measurable change on the ground. Therefore, the committee will continue to monitor progress through regular follow-up meetings in the coming months.

The meeting held in Kochi marks a significant step toward strengthening the rights, welfare, and future opportunities of the OBC community across the country.
