Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal today urged the people to reject all Delhi based parties in the municipal elections while asserting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had presided over the complete breakdown of civic infrastructure in all municipal areas.
While campaigning for SAD candidates contesting the municipal elections in this city along with former MLA Kanwarjit Singh Rozy Barkandi, the SAD president said “I urge you not to waste your votes. The AAP government is in power for the next five months only. During their last four and a half years in power they have done nothing for you.
The entire civic infrastructure is in a mess in the city. Trade and industry is being exploited by gangsters and the AAP government is powerless against them.
In such a situation you only need to remember the SAD tenure in government. All civic amenities in your city be it roads, sewerage lines or street lights, were installed by the SAD. The Congress and AAP governments have even failed to maintain this infrastructure”.
Asserting that the SAD alone took every community along with it, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “communal harmony is the cornerstone of our policies. S Parkash Singh Badal promoted all religions. If he beautified the surroundings of Sri Darbar Sahib, he did the same for the Durgiana Mandir, the Ram Tirsath Sthal Amritsar and Sri Guru Ravidas Ji temple at Khuralgarh Sahib”.
Mr Badal said the SAD also believed in direct contact with the people. “While we conducted Sangat Darshans to resolve your problems on the spot, chief minister Bhagwant Mann has never interacted with the people of Sri Muktsar Sahib face to face”.
He also spoke on how all development and infrastructure activity had been conducted in the city during SAD tenure only and how the city had been discriminated against by both the previous Congres and present AAP regime. “This is the right time to teach both these parties as well as all Delhi parties a befitting lesson”, he added.
