Shiromani Akali Dal (Punarsurjit) General Secretary Gurpratap Singh Wadala, in a written press statement, said that the party has been making every possible effort on its own for the release of the Bandi Singhs who have completed their sentences. He stated that the party fully supports the proposed Rail Roko agitation being organized by various Sikh organizations for this cause.
He announced that the Qaumi Insaf Morcha, which has been protesting in Mohali for the release of the Bandi Singhs, has given a call for a Rail Roko protest on July 4, 2026, and that Shiromani Akali Dal (Punarsurjit) will actively participate in the movement.
S. Wadala further said that the entire Sikh community should make sincere efforts to secure the release of those Sikh prisoners who continue to remain in jail despite completing their sentences. He added that these Sikhs were imprisoned while fighting for the cause of Punjab, and therefore their release is a matter of justice.
He appealed to the people to gather in large numbers at Madhopur (Sirhind) Railway Station on July 4 to participate in the Rail Roko protest.
