The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, paid heartfelt tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on his martyrdom day, urging people to follow the teachings and legacy of the great Guru, revered as “Hind Di Chadar” for his unparalleled sacrifice.
He emphasized that Guru Ji’s supreme sacrifice was made to protect the freedom to worship and uphold the principles of justice, dignity, and secularism. His legacy serves as an enduring source of inspiration for courage, compassion, and righteousness in the face of oppression.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, was born in 1621 and dedicated his life to the service of humanity. His Bani, enshrined in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, promotes spiritual enlightenment, universal brotherhood, and detachment from materialism.
The Governor highlighted that Guru Ji’s martyrdom in 1675 to safeguard the rights of Kashmiri Pandits and others symbolizes his unwavering stand for truth and justice.
Shri Kataria also reflected on Guru Ji’s teachings, which stress selflessness, fearlessness, and compassion. He called upon the public to collectively participate in the observance of this auspicious occasion and honor Guru Ji’s Shaheedi Diwas by adopting his ideals of peace, harmony, and unity.
Observing this solemn day, he said, is a tribute to Guru Ji’s timeless message and a reminder of our shared responsibility to uphold human values.
