Sh. Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Dy. Speaker, Punjab Legislative Assembly visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. In the meeting with Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, deans, directors and faculty members of the University he discussed various issues concerning upliftment of the livestock sector with special emphasis on dairy animals.
Sh. Rouri expressed his concern for the breed improvement of dairy animals. He emphasized that in the Hoshiarpur district from where he belongs the main profession of the rural folks is livestock rearing and agriculture. He opined that the university should pro-actively be involved in organizing some awareness and treatment camps in that area.
Dr Inderjeet Singh said that for breed improvement use of good quality semen and best management practices are pivotal. Dr Singh said that Embryo Transfer Technology is also very vital for better breed.
Dr Singh informed him about different academic programmes of the varsity. He also informed about the value addition of milk into various milk products which can help in improving the financial status of livestock farmers. Further the Vice-Chancellor told him that our main objective is to develop entrepreneurs with handholding of the Varsity.
Sh Rouri also visited the Dairy farm of the University. He appreciated the herd, sheds and management practices adopted and advocated by the university.
