Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town said on Friday that they have attached the property of a terror handler operating from Pakistan as part of the ongoing major crackdown on terror network.
A police statement said that the proclaimed offender linked to terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen had crossed to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) for arms training and was now acting as a terror handler from there.
Police attached the immovable property of a proclaimed offender involved in a Case filed under an FIR registered at the Panzalla Police Station under Section 2/3 of The Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance (EIMCO) Act.
The proclaimed offender has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Bhat alias Hyder, the son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat and a resident of Rohama town in Baramulla.
Investigations have revealed that the accused had illegally crossed over to PoK for obtaining illegal arms and ammunition training and is linked with the banned terror group Hizbul Mujahideen.c3
He is currently operating in coordination with the Hizbul Mujahideen terror network from Pakistan.
The attachment proceedings were carried out in collaboration with the Revenue Department in respect of land measuring six Marlas at Daengrut Rohama and 10 Marlas at Reshinar Rohama, valued in lakhs of rupees.
The accused had been evading legal proceedings for a prolonged period despite sustained efforts and was accordingly declared a proclaimed offender by the court under Section 88 of the CrPC.
Subsequently, in compliance with the orders of the Court, attachment proceedings were executed after due verification through revenue records and local enquiry.z`
The process was carried out in the presence of Revenue officials and independent witnesses after observing all codal formalities.
This action forms part of the continued efforts of Sopore Police to dismantle the terror ecosystem, disrupt terror networks, and take stringent action against the accused involved in activities prejudicial to the security and integrity of the nation.
“Sopore Police reiterated their firm commitment to continue lawful and strict action against individuals involved in terrorism, terror financing, harbouring, or supporting terrorist organisations in any manner,” the statement added.(Agency)
