The Directorate of Gurdwara Elections of Delhi Government has commenced work regarding preparation of fresh voter-list for ensuing Delhi Gurdwara Elections scheduled to be held in January 2026.
While giving details in this regards, Mr Inder Mohan Singh, former member of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) & expert in Delhi Gurdwara Election affairs said that the present voter lists were prepared about 42 years back in the year 1983 by making door to door survey.
Thereafter, these obsolete voter lists prepared in the year 1983 were slightly amended from time to time which were used in the subsequent elections held in the year 1995, 2002, 2007, 2013, 2017 and 2021 respectively by giving excuse/s of shortage of time.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that whereas the ensuing Delhi Gurdwara Elections- 2026 will be held in more transparent and smooth manner with new photo voter-list, on the other side the actual Sikh population in Delhi will also be ascertained.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh has made an appear to all eligible Sikh citizens of Delhi above 18 years of age to come forward to get themselves registered in the new photo voter lists and also to co-operate the government official posted for this purpose in all the 16 zonal offices located in different Gurdwaras in Delhi.
