Direct Ramnagar–Dehradun train connectivity in Uttarakhand, to give impetus to tourism

Dehradun, July 17, 2026
In a major connectivity boost, a direct train service is set to begin between Ramnagar and Dehradun, opening myriad opportunities for the travellers, pilgrims as well as commercial traders.

The bi-weekly express service between Ramnagar and Dehradun assumes significance as it will not only bring the two prominent towns closer but also unfold avenues for harnessing economic potential of the region.

Ramnagar marks the entry point of popular Jim Corbett National Park while Dehradun being the state capital remains the hub of commercial activity.

The 15310/15309 Ramnagar–Dehradun bi-weekly express train is set to commence its service from July 18, in response to the long-standing demand of the local population and the special endeavour by Garhwal MP Anil Baluni. He consistently pursued the project, seeking its approval from the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Express train will depart from Ramnagar at 5:50 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving in Dehradun at 12:40 p.m. In return journey, it will depart from Dehradun at 3:55 p.m. on the same day and reach Ramnagar at 11:30 p.m. The train will halt at Kashipur, Roshanpur, Pipalsana, Moradabad, Najibabad, and Haridwar stations.

Passengers from cities like Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Dehradun, Moradabad, and Bijnor are set to benefit from the project. It is expected to give a boost to tourism, pilgrimage, education and trade.

Passengers could travel to Dehradun for various official works, depart at pilgrimage city Haridwar, complete their work, and return on the same day.

This train will prove beneficial for tourists and wildlife enthusiasts visiting Jim Corbett National Park, as well as for pilgrims visiting religious and mythological sites near Ramnagar, such as the Girija Devi Temple and Sitamadhi/Sitavani.

The bi-weekly express train will offer improved rail connectivity for travellers embarking on the Char Dham Yatra — covering Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri — from Haridwar and Dehradun.

The train is equipped with all types of coaches including AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, AC Chair Car, Sleeper Class, Second Class Chair Car, and General Second Class.(Agency)
