Punjab-Origin Woman Stabbed to Death Inside London Home; Suspect Charged with Murder

London, July 17, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A 24-year-old Punjab-origin woman was fatally stabbed inside her home in west London while she slept beside her husband and their three-month-old baby, in a shocking attack that has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The victim, Kirandeep Kaur, was allegedly attacked by Daniel Sean James, 46, who is accused of forcing his way into the family’s home on Uxbridge Road in Hayes during the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to prosecutors, James had earlier stabbed a man in his 20s in the back on a nearby street before reaching the family’s residence. At around 7:50 a.m., he allegedly kicked in the front door and entered the house while the family was asleep.

The court was told that Kaur’s husband woke up after hearing his wife scream and saw a figure leaving the bedroom. Kaur had suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

Following the attack, the accused allegedly jumped from a window, breaking both his ankles before being arrested by police nearby. He was treated in hospital before being taken into custody.

James, a resident of Mercer Place, Pinner, has been charged with murder, attempted murder in connection with the earlier stabbing, and possession of a bladed weapon.

Appearing via video link before the Old Bailey from Wormwood Scrubs prison on Thursday, James was remanded in custody. Judge Nigel Lickley KC scheduled a plea hearing for October 1.

The brutal killing has left the couple’s three-month-old baby without a mother and has deeply saddened members of the Punjabi and Sikh communities in the United Kingdom.

UNITED SIKHS Assisting Family

Meanwhile, humanitarian organization UNITED SIKHS said it is supporting the bereaved family during this difficult period.

According to the organization, Ms. Narpinder Mann BEM, Director of United Humanitarian Sikh Aid (UHSA), is coordinating efforts to repatriate Kirandeep Kaur’s mortal remains, ensuring she is returned to her family with dignity.

The organization said it also stands ready to provide humanitarian assistance, emotional support, and connect the family with available resources as they cope with the tragedy.

Community members have called for a thorough and transparent legal process, saying justice must be delivered for the victim and her grieving family.
