CM Bhagwant Mann Demands Choice Between Pure Petrol and E20 Fuel, Supports Nationwide Petition

Chandigarh, July 16, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday urged people across the country to support a campaign launched by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal against the use of E20 petrol, alleging that the fuel is causing problems for vehicle owners.

In a video message, Mann appealed to citizens to sign an online petition at stopE20petrol.com, saying the campaign aims to draw the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to concerns being raised by consumers regarding E20 petrol.

The Chief Minister alleged that motorists across the country are experiencing reduced mileage and other vehicle-related issues due to E20 fuel and claimed that the Centre has failed to adequately respond to these concerns.

Demands Consumer Choice

Mann said the campaign seeks two key changes from the Union Government.

According to him, consumers should be free to choose between conventional petrol and E20 petrol, and E20 fuel should be sold at a lower price than conventional petrol rather than both being priced equally.

He argued that selling both fuels at the same price benefits oil companies while placing an unnecessary financial burden on consumers.

Appeals for Public Participation

The Chief Minister urged citizens to participate in the campaign by signing the online petition, saying every signature would strengthen public opinion and increase pressure on the Centre to reconsider its policy.

He alleged that vehicle owners were increasingly worried about possible engine damage and declining vehicle performance, despite investing significant amounts in purchasing their vehicles.

Refers to Kejriwal’s Letter to PM

Mann said Arvind Kejriwal had personally interacted with vehicle owners and mechanics to understand their concerns and had observed damaged vehicles at a repair workshop.

He added that Kejriwal subsequently wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate intervention on the issue and urging the Centre to address consumer grievances.

The Punjab Chief Minister maintained that the campaign was aimed at protecting the interests of ordinary vehicle owners and called upon people across the country to unite in demanding changes to the existing E20 petrol policy.
