Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh questions Pakistan for targeting minorities

Chandigarh, June 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh strongly condemned the Pakistan government for failing to protect the minorities and their human rights.

Condemning the heinous killing of a Sindhi couple at a gurdwara in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chugh said the incident reflected Pakistan’s callous attitude towards the minorities.

While questioning whether it was a state-sponsored terrorism to victimise minorities, Chugh demanded the intervention of international authorities to take the Pakistan government to task.

Describing the murder as “barbaric and deeply disturbing”, Chugh said the attack had created fear among Sikhs and other minorities living in Pakistan. He alleged that repeated incidents of violence against minorities exposed the inability of the Pakistani establishment to provide security and justice.

Chugh urged Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible and bring them to justice. He said any delay in action would raise serious questions about the government’s commitment to protecting minority rights.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Chugh said the perpetrators, as well as those behind the conspiracy, must be identified and punished in accordance with the law.
