IKG PTU Bids Farewell to Senior Faculty Member Dr. Balkar Singh on His Retirement

Senior faculty member and former Dean College Development, Prof. (Dr.) Balkar Singh, was given a warm farewell party on his retirement at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) on Friday. Dr. Balkar Singh retired from the university after rendering nearly 23 years of academic and administrative services.

At present, he was serving as Dean College Development and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the university. He also efficiently served the university in various capacities including Controller of Examinations and Vigilance Officer.

Dr. Balkar Singh joined IKG PTU on December 24, 2003 as Deputy Dean/Assistant Professor. Before joining the university, he served as Assistant Engineer in the Punjab State Federation of Sugar Mills and as Lecturer at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Engineering College, Ferozepur.

The farewell ceremony began with a welcome address in which speakers appreciated the outstanding services and dedication of Dr. Balkar Singh towards the institution.

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal said that Dr. Balkar Singh made remarkable contributions in the fields of education, administration and public service during his tenure. He further stated that Dr. Balkar Singh possessed a multi-dimensional personality and contributed significantly in his field.

During the function, Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu shared memories associated with Dr. Balkar Singh’s tenure at the institution. Dean Dr. R.P.S. Bedi, Dr. Parveen Bansal, Dr. Satveer Singh and Controller of Examinations Dr. Paramjit Singh also spoke about the contributions made by Dr. Balkar Singh towards the development of the university.

The ceremony was also addressed by Dr. Balkar Singh and his wife Mrs. Pavittar Kaur. Dr. Balkar Singh shared his experiences and expressed gratitude to all his colleagues. The stage proceedings were conducted by Deputy Librarian Dr. Madhu Midda. During the ceremony, Dr. Balkar Singh was presented with mementos and honors along with best wishes for his future.

At the end, all the attendees wished him good health, happiness and a bright future.
