Punjab Revenue Department Staff to Carry Out Crop Inspections With Transparency and Honesty: Dhaliwal

Amritsar/Ajnala, September 12, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Constituency MLA and former Punjab Cabinet Minister, S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, announced that starting September 13, the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann will begin official surveys/inspections (girdawari) in flood-affected areas, including Ajnala, to assess damaged crops, ruined houses, and livestock lost due to floods in order to provide government compensation to eligible beneficiaries.

Issuing directions to the revenue department staff and other officials deployed for this work, he emphasized that responsibilities must be carried out with complete honesty and transparency.

He warned that depriving flood victims of their rightful compensation or granting undue benefits under political influence or personal greed would be unacceptable, adding that taking bribes in such duties was akin to feeding poison to one’s own family.

He also cautioned that political leaders who usurp compensation money meant for flood victims will inevitably suffer losses, whether financial, physical, or in the form of disease.

Dhaliwal expressed these views while visiting Nangal Sohal, a border village near the Ravi River badly hit by floodwaters. Here, under the leadership of SDM Ajnala, S. Ravinder Singh Arora, the district administration distributed relief kits, cots, and mattresses to 359 beneficiaries.

Assistance was also provided by Sri Guru Kalgi Dhar Trust, Baru Sahib. Similarly, in the affected village of Harrad Khurd, relief material such as blankets and cots was distributed to about 100 beneficiaries with the support of Block President and Sarpanch, Luvpreet Singh Harrad, and other social workers.

Dhaliwal stated that the Mann government has resolved to complete crop inspections and other damage surveys by mid-October so that compensation cheques can be delivered to the victims by the Diwali festival.

He claimed that in the first phase, following the government’s directions, over 3,200 people from 100 flood-affected villages of the Ajnala constituency were safely evacuated to secure places with the help of the administration and social workers. In the second phase, hundreds of hungry and thirsty people stranded on rooftops in submerged villages were provided food supplies, giving them a new lease on life.

Relief supplies continue to be delivered as per the needs of the flood victims, and from September 13 onwards, crop inspections for government compensation will formally begin. He reiterated that the Mann government is fully committed to raising the living standards of flood-affected people during this crisis.
