67 Encounters, 67 Properties Demolished under AAP Govt’s War Against Drugs: Deepak Bali

Chandigarh, April 27, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

The Mann Government has intensified its fight against drug traffickers under the ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign. AAP leaders provided important updates on the progress made under the government’s mission and reaffirmed the party and government’s commitment to eradicating drugs.

AAP MLA Manvinder Singh Giaspura praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav for setting a clear and firm deadline to arrest all drug traffickers by May 31. He stated that under the Chief Minister’s direction, the DGP has issued strict orders to all SSPs and Police Commissioners across the state to ensure that every individual involved in drug trafficking is arrested by the set deadline.

AAP leader Deepak Bali highlighted that since the start of the mission, 4,659 FIRs have been registered against drug traffickers, and 7,414 criminals have been arrested. The government has also demolished 67 buildings constructed with illegal drug money and has carried out 67 encounters to eliminate criminal elements.

Thousands of kilograms of drugs, including heroin, opium, marijuana, and bhukki, have been seized. This reflects the AAP government’s zero-tolerance policy toward those exploiting Punjab’s suffering.

AAP spokesperson Neel Garg emphasized that any instance of drug trafficking found after this deadline will hold the concerned SSPs and CPs directly accountable. He stated that this order reaffirms the state government’s unwavering commitment to making Punjab drug-free.

AAP leaders Babbi Badal and Shaminder Khinda remarked that the Mann government has adopted a comprehensive strategy to address the drug issue, focusing on every aspect of the problem.

On one hand, the government is breaking the drug supply chain and ensuring the arrest of traffickers, while on the other hand, it is strengthening rehabilitation centers to assist individuals recovering from addiction. Thus, this mission has become a collective effort, receiving widespread public support.

AAP leader Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia praised the resolutions passed by Panchayats against drug traffickers, particularly highlighting the example from the Goniana Block, where all panchayats passed a resolution stating that anyone involved in drug-related activities will not only face legal action but also social boycott.

He criticized previous governments for fostering alliances with drug traffickers and putting the youth’s future at risk. In contrast, the Mann government is working to end the drug menace in Punjab and alleviate the people’s suffering.

AAP leaders R.P.S. Malhotra and Charanjit Dhaliwal also commended the Punjab government for this decision. All the leaders praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, stating that with his successful leadership and the people’s support, the dream of a drug-free Punjab will soon be realized, and Punjab will once again become a prosperous and flourishing state.
