Chandigarh, Dec 10, 2013 –
The intriguing date 11.12.13, the last such occasion this century, has many city residents queuing up to tie the nuptial knot on this day.
Not only this, many expecting mothers have also planned their deliveries keeping this date in mind.
Different venues in and around the city have been booked for marriages and if the Chandigarh municipal corporation officials are to be believed, all their community halls are booked for the auspicious day. Nearly 500 weddings will be witnessed across the tricity on Wednesday.
AK Dadwal, officer on special duty, Chandigarh MC, said, “We received a number of queries in the last few months and all our community halls are booked for December 11. Mostly there are marriages while some people are also holding other personal functions.”
A similar scenario has been seen at banquet halls in Zirakpur, as most of them have been booked for weddings, receptions or other wedding-related functions.
With most banquets booked, owners said that they had to turn down requests, as they already had bookings for December 11.
Meanwhile, astrologers in city claim that the date is magical and explain that the same is auspicious for marriages and child birth. A city-based astrologer P Khurana said, “Number 11 itself is very powerful as the total is two. Also, 11 is luminous in character. Any child born on this date will excel in any of his/her professions except that he/she will be very sensitive. The magic of this number cannot be compared to any other number.”
Hospitals too getting requests for deliveries
Private hospitals in the city are also getting such queries for the past several days. “We have received two such queries. One woman who wanted to deliver a baby on December 11, delivered on Tuesday and another will get admitted on Tuesday night hoping for the same,” said Dr GK Bedi from Bedi Hospital, Sector 33.
However, according to government hospital officials, due to workload and pressure, people generally don't approach us with such demands. “Such occasions keep coming but, we don't get such queries often. If somebody demands, we discourage such practises,” said a faculty member from department of gynaecology and obstetrics, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32.
