In compliance with the directions issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Transport Department has informed that several vehicles registered in the district have been blacklisted due to non-payment of government dues.
Sharing this information, RTA Amritsar Mr. Hitesh Kumar stated that all registered owners of such blacklisted vehicles, as well as defaulters against whom recovery proceedings are pending, have been directed to clear their pending dues/challans immediately and regularize their cases with the concerned authorities without any delay.
RTA Amritsar Mr. Hitesh Kumar further informed that a special enforcement drive is being jointly conducted by the Police Department and the Transport Department in District Amritsar.
During this campaign, any blacklisted vehicle found plying on roads will be seized under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the rules framed thereunder.
He further stated that the list of blacklisted vehicles and recovery defaulters is available at the office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Amritsar. All concerned vehicle owners have been advised to verify the status of their vehicles and ensure immediate compliance to avoid legal action and seizure proceedings.

He appealed to all vehicle owners to deposit the compounding fee for their pending challans at the earliest, failing which their vehicles will be seized as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
