Delhi BJP condemns Saurabh Bharadwaj’s post on ‘suspension’ of social media accounts

New Delhi, July 23, 2026

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Thursday condemned a post on social media platform X by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi Convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj, in which he allegedly threatened Meta and WhatsApp.

Kapoor said that Bharadwaj is a hypocritical leader who, out of sheer obstinacy, tries to prove every statement he makes to be correct, but this time he has picked the wrong target.

Bharadwaj’s statement alleging that the accounts of people associated with the student movement are being suspended on social media platforms “Meta and WhatsApp” is baseless and, in fact, laughable, he added.

He said that Saurabh Bharadwaj may already be aware of this but since he has once again posted a hypocritical statement regarding “Meta and WhatsApp”, it needs to be clarified that suspending the WhatsApp accounts of users who send an excessive number of forwarded messages is a standard policy of Meta.

“Even my personal WhatsApp account gets suspended once every two to three months due to excessive use for party or personal work, and it automatically becomes active again within three to seven days,” Kapoor added.

The Delhi BJP spokesperson said that Bharadwaj is acting like a hypocrite and his post on X regarding “Meta” is also an attempt to provoke the youth.

Earlier, Delhi BJP President and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra said that to save their political future the opposition parties have hijacked the student movement and spreading violence from behind the scenes.

Addressing a joint press conference with Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, Malhotra added that whatever is happening in the country and Delhi today can be described as anything but student politics.

He said that what is happening today is an attempt by opposition parties, which have been losing elections one after another in various states, to save their political future.

“In this process, they are hijacking the student movement, spreading violence from behind the scenes, crossing political boundaries, and thereby defaming the student movement,” he added.

Malhotra said, “Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and other opposition parties must answer what they achieved by breaching the security of the Prime Minister’s residence and the Parliament, or why they are now running away from a discussion on the NEET examination in Parliament.”(Agency)
