BJP removes Bhind Kisan Morcha chief over fuel-save call violation

Bhopal, May 14, 2026
The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has removed its Bhind district president of Kisan Morcha, Sajjan Singh Yadav, after he allegedly led a convoy of more than 100 vehicles during a welcome rally from Gwalior to Bhind, saying the act went against PM Modi’s appeal for fuel and energy conservation.

Party sources said this is probably the first such disciplinary action taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party after PM Modi’s appeal.

Interestingly, Sajjan Singh Yadav used a long convoy of vehicles from Bhind to Bhopal even as Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and several other ministers have already reduced the number of vehicles in their convoys in the state to support the Prime Minister’s call.

The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha took action on Wednesday after videos of the rally held on May 13 went viral on social media and drew criticism for excessive fuel use.

In an official letter issued by the state Kisan Morcha president, Jaypal Singh Chawda, the party said the rally held under Yadav’s leadership showed “indiscipline” and ignored the Prime Minister’s repeated message on saving fuel and avoiding unnecessary energy consumption.

“Your act is a disregard for the appeal made by Hon’ble PM Modi for energy saving,” a notification issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha head on Wednesday, May 14, stated.

The order further stated that, following instructions from state Bharatiya Janata Party president Hemant Khandelwal, Yadav’s appointment as Bhind district president of the Kisan Morcha had been cancelled with immediate effect.

According to party sources, the rally involved over 100 vehicles travelling nearly 75 km from Gwalior to Bhind to welcome Yadav.

The large convoy sparked debate online, with many questioning the use of so many vehicles while the government promotes energy efficiency.

Party leaders said the action reflects the Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party leadership’s intention to strictly enforce discipline and ensure party workers follow the Prime Minister’s public campaigns seriously.

The move is seen as an attempt to set an example that appeals made by PM Modi must be followed by all functionaries.(Agency)
