Speaking at the CII annual summit, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney reiterated that there is immense scope of dairy farming and dairy cooperatives in Punjab and Gujrat successful model of Amul should be followed.
Dr. Sahney lamented that despite the higher productivity of cows in Punjab and availability of feed and fodder still Punjab have not fully scaled up dairy farming to become the leader in Dairy cooperatives and downstream milk products being marketed all over India and also for exports.
Dr. Sahney also said that there should be more women led cooperatives, self-help groups and rural enterprises receiving more stronger institutional support. He also added that corporate can benefit collaborating with cooperatives to meet and spur up the rural demand and also aim for social enterprises.
