Lambi, October 1, 2023 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said former chief minister S Parkash Singh Badal had entrusted him with the ‘sewa’ of this constituency and that he would work with the same perseverance as the former chief minister to ensure no injustice was done to the people of this assembly segment.
Addressing an enthusiastic Youth Milni programme organised by Youth Akali Dal (YAD) president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher here, the SAD president said “Badal Sahab did the utmost for you. He was responsible for transforming this former desert region into a green paradise. He not only brought in irrigation and drinking water facilities but also modern civic amenities into all villages. This constituency has not seen any development during the last seven years. I am committed to bringing development and jobs back to this constituency”.
Asserting that the former chief minister should not have lost from this constituency, the SAD president said “now the time has come for the youth and all other sections of society to understand the evil designs of the Congress – Aam Aadmi Party alliance and unite under the banner of the SAD to drive the anti- Punjab parties out of the State.
Launching a frontal attack on chief minister Bhagwant Mann, the SAD president said every section of society was being victimised in the State despite electing AAP to power with an overwhelming majority. He said farmers had not been paid compensation for repeat crop failures and the girdwari process was yet to be finished for the huge crop losses due to floods in July. He said similarly the AAP government had provided an additional 100 units of power free of cost to people from the 200 units of power given free of cost by the Badal government.
“In return the government has increased fuel prices by Rs 2.50 per litre besides ending all social welfare benefits including the Shagun scheme, SC Scholarship scheme, free cycles for girls and CM Teerath Yatra scheme. Even the aata – daal scheme had been discontinued by the AAP government with beneficiaries being supplied flour from the centre”. He also disclosed how the old age pension scheme had been diluted by taking lakhs of beneficiaries out of the ambit of the scheme.
Mr Badal also spoke on the goondaism being done by AAP legislators which had resulted in deterioration of law and order and a spurt in drug trafficking. He gave the instance of how the Khadoor Sahib AAP legislator had blackmailed the government to shunt out an honest police officer who had caught his brother in law indulging in illegal mining. He said similarly AAP legislators were protecting drug smugglers and taking monthlies from them due to which the drug menace had reached alarming proportions.
YAD president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher spoke on how far from giving jobs to youth as promised, the AAP government was even throttling their democratic right to protest. Youth leader Akashdeep Singh Middukhera was also present on the occasion.
