Miffed over denial of ticket, former MLA Dalvir Goldy resigns from Congress

Sangrur, April 30, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Miffed over the denial of a ticket for Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, former MLA Dalvir Singh Khangura Goldy Tuesday resigned as DCC President and from the primary membership of the party.

He has sent his resignation to PCC Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring wherein he has specifically mentioned that he was disappointed with the state leadership of the party.

Goldy who was aspiring to contest the Lok Sabha election from Sangrur on a Congress ticket, was upset over the party’s decision to bring in senior Congress leader and Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to contest the Sangrur parliament election.

Goldy, a former MLA from Dhuri had contested the 2022 Vidhan Sabha election from Dhuri against AAP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Bhagwant Singh Mann who won and became the Chief Minister of the state.

PCC president Raja Warring, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, and Sukhpal Singh Khaira tried to assuage the feelings of Dalvir Goldy and at one point of time, it seemed that he had relented.

However, on Monday, he again put a post on social media showing his resentment against the decision of the party and became incommunicado.

However, his resignation surfaced on Tuesday afternoon. There is no clarity about his future political journey but it seems that he may choose between AAP and the BJP.
