Why discrimination with SC Advocates in Appointment as AGs: SAD asks Punjab Govt

Shiromani Akali Dal today asked Bhagwant Mann government to tell Punjabis why it was discriminating against Scheduled Caste Advocates on appointment in Advocate General office.

Moving an adjournment motion on the issue in Budget session of the Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Manpreet Singh Ayali leader of the SAD group, said that it was shocking to note that 156 Law officers has been appointed in AG office. He said that applications were invited for 58 posts from SC advocates on August 20, 2022 till September 13, 2022.

He said that after receiving applications Bhagwant Mann led AAP government has done nothing on their appointments and it has maintained studded silence on the issue. He said that this was a serious discrimination with the advocates belonging to scheduled castes and a violation against the spirit of the Constitution. The party demanded that these posts should be filled immediately without any further delay.

SAD leader also moved a non official resolution and demanded that Supreme Court Judgement of 4.11.22 regarding EPFO Pension scheme for employees of Private and Semi government Institutes should be implemented without any further delay as this would provide much needed relief to the pensioners under the scheme.

Mr. Manpreet Singh Aiyali, Dr. Nachatarpal and Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi also moved an amendment to thanks motion on Governor’s address which said that it was most painful to see that nothing has been added in address regarding release of bandi Sikhs.
