Amritsar, March 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

In a significant political development, Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar resigned from his position on Saturday following the tragic suicide of Punjab Warehousing Corporation District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.

Randhawa, reportedly around 40 years old, died by suicide early Saturday morning at approximately 6:00 AM at his residence in Amritsar. According to initial reports, he consumed Sulphas, a highly toxic substance often linked to such cases.

Allegations Surface in Viral Video

Before his death, Randhawa recorded a brief 12-second video clip in which he allegedly held Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar responsible for his extreme step. The video has since circulated widely, intensifying public and political scrutiny.

Family Claims Mental Pressure

Family members of the deceased claimed that Randhawa had been under immense mental pressure for some time. They revealed that he had even relocated his immediate family, including his widowed mother, to another location due to stress and safety concerns.

Political Leaders Demand Accountability

The incident has triggered strong reactions from various political leaders across party lines. Prominent figures, including:

  • Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla
  • Senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia
  • Former Congress MLA Harminder Singh Gill

have raised serious allegations against Bhullar.

They claimed that the minister had been exerting undue pressure on Randhawa regarding a tender-related issue. Harminder Singh Gill further alleged that Bhullar sought influence over a tender application reportedly filed under the name of his father, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar.

Serious Allegations of Threats and Assault

In addition to administrative pressure, allegations have also emerged suggesting that Randhawa was threatened and even physically assaulted. These claims have intensified calls for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Resignation Amid Mounting Pressure

Facing growing criticism and political backlash, Laljit Singh Bhullar stepped down from his ministerial role. His resignation marks a significant turn in the unfolding controversy, as authorities are now expected to initiate a detailed probe into the allegations.
