Barnala, April 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News):
The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on Thursday conducted an inspection at a unit of Trident Limited in Dhaula village of Barnala district, a facility associated with industrialist and Rajinder Gupta, a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. Gupta is one of the seven Rajya Sabha MPs who recently defected from AAP to BJP.
According to sources, the action followed complaints alleging environmental concerns linked to the operations of the industrial unit. Officials reportedly examined various compliance and operational parameters during the visit.
Gupta has recently drawn political attention after switching allegiance from the Aam Aadmi Party to the Bharatiya Janata Party along with several other parliamentarians, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Dikshit, Harbhajan Singh, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Ashok Mittal and Swati Maliwal.
Sources indicated that the inspection, which began in the afternoon, continued for several hours. However, no official statement had been issued by the PPCB regarding the findings at the time of filing this report.
There was also no immediate response from Trident Limited on the development.
