A massive Dharam Raksha Rally was organised by Punjab Bachao Morcha on Wednesday to raise public awareness on the rising cases of illegal religious conversions through fraud, enticement and luring. The rally witnessed participation from hundreds of Sikh, Hindu and Christian Jathebandis across Punjab who collectively voiced strong opposition to deceptive conversion practices.
A memorandum highlighting multiple illegalities was handed over to Police officials, urging strict and immediate action. Senior officers present at the site assured that stern measures would be taken against self-styled godmen involved in magic-based miracles, fake healings and fraudulent conversion tactics.
Punjab Bachao Morcha President Tejasvi Minhas stated that several self-styled pastors in Punjab are misleading innocent citizens with “magic medical miracles,” which is a clear violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. He further emphasised that these individuals hold no recognised medical degree under the National Medical Commission (NMC) nor registration with the Punjab Medical Council.
The protest was attended by hundreds of people including Baba Kulwinder Singh 96 Crori Chaunte Wale, Baba Sukhjit Singh Moga (Punjab Sanjha Manch), Baba Manpreet Singh Faridkoti, Baba Kuljit Singh (Mukhi Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal Doaba), Bhagat Singh Doabi (Chairman, Mukhi Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal Doaba), Maninder Mani (Hindu Tiger Sangathan, Bathinda). Bachao Morcha affirmed that its campaign will continue until all fraudulent religious activities are curbed.
