NCSC holds meeting with Bank of Baroda to review financial, welfare schemes for SCs

To protect the rights of the Scheduled Caste employees as well to ensure proper implementation of various financing schemes for SCs initiated by the government of India, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Wednesday held a review meeting with Bank of Baroda (BOB) at Mumbai.

The NCSC delegation, led by its Chairman Vijay Sampla, conducted the first meeting with the leaders of the SC/ST organization of the bank. During the meeting, the leaders apprised Sampla and NCSC officials about the backlog in recruitment, issues related to promotion and transfers; and pending issues with the management of BoB.

Post lunch, NCSC started the official meeting with the management of the BOB, led by its Managing Director and CEO Debadatta Chand. The NCSC chairman reviewed various measures taken by BOB in giving credit to persons belonging to the scheduled caste community and welfare of its SC employees in terms of reservations, backlog vacancies, functioning of welfare and grievances redressal mechanism and other issues.

During the meeting, Sampla also reviewed the implementation of various welfare schemes for SC beneficiaries including NRLM, NULM, Mudra, Swabhiman and Awas Yojana and asked the Bank of Baroda officials to ensure that the obligations towards the members of the SC community are addressed, as per the Stand Up India Programme of the union government.

Sampla also asked BOB to ensure minimum wages to all the outsourced SC employees as well as to provide benefits to every eligible Scheduled Caste person applying under the Credit Enhancement Guarantee Scheme for Scheduled Castes or other such schemes.

Also, NCSC will hold meetings with the officials of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) on Thursday and with the officials of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) on Friday, to review measures taken by the firms for the welfare of its SC employees.
