Jagdish Singh Jhinda Elected President of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee

Jhinda becomes the first elected HSGMC president following January 2025 general elections

Kurukshetra, May 23, 2025 (Yes Punjab News):
In a major development for Sikh religious leadership in Haryana, Jagdish Singh Jhinda was elected as the President of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) on Friday.

The presidential election took place during a special meeting convened in Kurukshetra, attended by members elected in the January 2025 HSGMC general elections. Although no single faction secured a clear majority in those polls, Jhinda emerged as the consensus candidate, receiving support from multiple groups.

Notably, former HSGMC president Baljit Singh Daduwal endorsed Jhinda’s leadership, bolstering his path to presidency. HSGMC has 49 members.

The HSGMC is the official religious body responsible for the management, administration, and upkeep of Sikh Gurdwaras in Haryana, overseeing sewa (service), maintenance, and religious activities across the state.

With this victory, Jagdish Singh Jhinda becomes the first president chosen by a democratically elected HSGMC, marking a significant milestone in the committee’s functioning and autonomy.

Jhinda’s election is expected to bring a renewed focus on unity, transparency, and efficient gurdwara management across Haryana.
