The Additional Sessions Judge, Fazilka, Mr. Ajit Pal Singh, has sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case that occurred in 2020.
The case pertains to the murder of Gurvinder Singh, a police personnel, who was shot dead by car-borne assailants in his neighborhood. The FIR was registered at City Police Station, Abohar, under sections 302, 201, 120B, 34 of the IPC and section 25 of the Arms Act.
After examining all facts and witnesses, the court found Namandeep Godara, Vikramjeet, and Vijay Lakshmi guilty under sections 302, 120B, and 34 of the IPC and sentenced them to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 10,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two-year imprisonment.
Additionally, the trio was sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment under section 201 of the IPC, with a fine of Rs. 10,000 each, and five years’ rigorous imprisonment under section 25 of the Arms Act, with a fine of Rs. 10,000 each.
The fourth accused, Naresh Kumar, was sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment under section 25 of the Arms Act, with a fine of Rs. 10,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional one-year imprisonment.
This verdict brings justice to the family of the deceased and serves as a deterrent to potential perpetrators.
