DSGMC urges Delhi Metro Rail Corp to remove painting of Sri Darbar Sahib from Mayur Vihar Station

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has urged Chairman of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to order removal of wall painting of Sri Darbar Sahib from wall of Metro Station, Mayur Vihar, Phase-I, New Delhi.

In a letter written to the Chairman, DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Jagdip Singh Kahlon said that it has come to their notice that a wall painting of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar has been painted on one of the walls of Metro Station, Mayur Vihar, Phase-I, New Delhi which is highly objectionable and deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs.

They said that they have received many calls expressing their resentment on this wall painting as according to Sikh Rehat Maryada (Tenets), it is not permissible.

They urged chairman to immediately order removal of painting from the wall with immediate effect to avoid any protest and harm to congenial atmosphere in Delhi for which they will be grateful to him.
