In a significant administrative development, Dr. Jagdeep Singh has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala. The appointment was officially made by the Governor of Punjab, who is also the Chancellor of the university.
Dr. Singh, a native of Faridkot district, currently serves as the Registrar at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER). Prior to his current role, he also held the position of Registrar at a Central University, showcasing a strong background in academic administration and institutional governance.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Punjabi University has welcomed a Vice Chancellor from IISER. Dr. Singh’s predecessor, Prof. Arvind, also came to the university on deputation from the same premier institute, reflecting a continuing trend of academic leadership rooted in excellence.
Dr. Singh’s appointment is being seen as a step towards strengthening the academic and administrative framework of the university, which has been seeking visionary leadership for its future growth and development.
The order issues in this respect said that Dr. Jagdeep Singh has been appointed for the period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office by him.
