Delhi Traffic Police issue advisory ahead of protest at Kishan Ghat, warns of diversions on key routes

New Delhi, July 21, 2026

The Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on Tuesday ahead of a demonstration and rally scheduled at Kishan Ghat in New Delhi, warning commuters of possible restrictions and diversions on several important roads in the area.

According to the advisory, traffic arrangements will be implemented from morning on a need basis to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and maintain public safety. The protest is being organised by the Desh Bachao Morcha at Kishan Ghat.

Delhi Traffic Police said in a post on X: “In view of the Demonstration/Protest/Rally at Kishan Ghat, New Delhi on 21.07.2026, traffic restrictions and diversions may be imposed from 08:30 AM onwards on need basis.”

The police advised commuters to avoid affected routes around Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road and adjoining areas during the advisory period.

Traffic diversions may be introduced from key points, including Delhi Gate, Rajghat Crossing, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, Rajghat DTC Depot and IP Flyover, depending on traffic conditions and requirements at the spot.

Roads likely to be affected include Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road, Rajghat DTC Bypass Road, along with surrounding roads and adjoining stretches.

In its public advisory, the traffic police urged people travelling towards the airport, railway stations and nearby areas to plan their journeys well in advance to avoid delays.

The advisory said: “Please follow the directions of Traffic Police personnel deployed on duty, park only at designated parking areas, and use navigation apps for real-time traffic updates.”

Motorists have also been advised to avoid roadside parking as it can obstruct traffic flow and worsen congestion. The police requested commuters to remain patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with personnel deployed at major intersections.

The Delhi Traffic Police further said that people should use official channels for real-time updates and assistance, including its website and social media platforms. Commuters can also contact the traffic police through WhatsApp at 8750871493 or the helpline numbers 1095 / 011-25844444 for assistance.

The advisory comes as authorities prepare traffic management measures around central Delhi areas due to the expected gathering at Kishan Ghat.(Agency)
