Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today asserted that the Congress will not allow the RSS and the BJP to divide the country at any cost.
Addressing the ‘Samvidan Bachao Sabha’ (Save Constitution meeting) organized by senior leader and former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu here today, Warring while displaying the copy of the constitution said, it protects every citizen of the country irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
He said the RSS and the BJP were trying to undermine and damage the same constitution as their ancestors had never accepted this constitution.
He alleged that it was the part of the same design that the RSS and the BJP introduced three black farm laws to deny Punjab the MSP. He said, if the laws had succeeded, Punjabis would have been denied Rs 80,000 crore every year that would have shattered Punjab’s economy.
The PCC president also accused the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann of acting at the behest of the union Home Minister Amit Shah to forcibly remove the peacefully agitating farmers. He pointed out, their turbans were tossed out, reminding of the atrocities of Ahmad Shah Abdali.
Senior party leaders including AICC Secretary Ravinder Dalvi, former Speaker Rana KP Singh, Balbir Sidhu also addressed the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Warring also addressed another meeting in Patiala which was among others attended by former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and AICC Secretary Kuljeet Nagra also.
Warring said that people of Punjab had shown overwhelming response towards the ‘Save Constitution Meetings’ as they were genuinely feeling concerned about the divisive designs of the RSS and the BJP.
He expressed confidence that their designs will not be allowed to succeed. More so in Punjab, people do not like divisive agenda and ideology as brotherhood and harmony comes naturally to us, he remarked.
