Young AAP Candidate Dr Ishank Chabbewal has emerged as the winner of the Bye-Election from the Chabbewal (Reserve) Vidhan Sabha seat in Punjab.
Ishank Chabbewal defeated his nearest rival Congress’s Advocate Ranjit Kumar by a huge margin of 28582 votes.
Ishank Chabbewal got 51753 votes, while Congress candidate Advocate Ranjit Kumar got 23171 votes and BJP candidate Sohan Singh Thandal got only 8667 votes. Thandal lost his security deposit.
Ishank Chabbewal is the son of Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal, a former Congress leader who represented this constituency twice on Congress Ticket and is now an AAP Member of Parliament from this constituency.
Congress candidate Advocate Ranjit Kumar left the BSP just ahead of by-election and joined the Congress. Similarly, a former minister Sohan Singh Thandal left Akali Dal to join BJP and contest election on Lotus Symbol.
