Brutality Against Students Murder of Democracy; Vijay Inder Singla Demands Resignation of Modi, Amit Shah & Pradhan

Chandigarh, July 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Terming the indiscriminate lathi charge on innocent students peacefully protesting for their legitimate demands at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, and the detention of opposition leaders as an open display of dictatorship, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Joint Treasurer, Chairman of the Punjab Congress Election Management and Coordination Committee, and former Minister Vijay Inder Singla strongly condemned the central government’s desperation.

Singla stated that in a democracy, every citizen and youth has a constitutional right to raise their voice for their rights. However, the Modi government at the Center is actively crushing every rising voice by violating constitutional norms. He added that a democracy cannot survive where educated youths are met with police batons and teargas shells instead of constructive dialogue. Taking moral responsibility for this brutality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah must resign from their positions immediately.

Taking a sharp dig at the central government over paper leak scams, Singla said that recurring paper leaks and irregularities in competitive exams across the country have shattered the hard work and dreams of lakhs of youth and their parents. Due to this failure, the Union Education Minister has no moral right to remain in office even for a minute and should tender his resignation forthwith.

He further noted that when Congress MPs under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi peacefully protested in support of the students, the government detained them as well. If the voices of elected representatives of the nation’s highest legislative body are suppressed, it is a direct declaration of autocracy.

Vijay Inder Singla affirmed that the Congress Party will never back down from fighting for the rights of the youth, students, and the general public.

He demanded:
1. A fair and high-level inquiry into the police lathi charge on students.
2. The unconditional and immediate release of all detained Members of Parliament and Congress leaders.
3. Strict action against the paper leak mafia playing with the future of the youth.

Singla warned that if the Modi government does not change its arrogant attitude, the Congress Party, alongside the youth of the nation, will intensify its struggle from the streets to Parliament to protect democracy and the Constitution.
