Bibi Jagir Kaur rejoins SAD, pledges to work even more assiduously for party

Begowal, March 14, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur today rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and pledged to work even more assiduously to strengthen the party.

Bibi Jagir Kaur was welcomed into the SAD by its president Sukhbir Singh Badal at the sthan of Sant Prem Singh Murarewala. Asserting that she was an Akali by birth, Bibi Jagir Kaur said “I was an Akali and will remain an Akali always”. She also asserted that she would continue to work in the religious sphere and do her best to strengthen the Shiromani Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said “my relations with Bibi ji have always been that of a family member”. He said he had earlier also invited Bibi ji to rejoin the party with folded hand and he was thankful to her for acceding to his request.

Mr Badal also gave a call to all Akalis who had become estranged from the SAD to return back to the party fold. Asserting that unity was the need of the hour, the SAD president said “only if we are united can we thwart the attempts being made to weaken the SGPC and Sikh institutions”.

Later when queried by newsmen, Mr Badal said the very fact that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was now contesting elections in the name of Bhagwant Mann indicated that AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal knew that the party was on a downward spiral.

“It seems Kejriwal knows that this time Punjabis will not give him a chance and that is why he is putting the onus of the party’s forthcoming parliamentary victory on Bhagwant Mann”. He asserted AAP would be the loser in all thirteen Lok Sabha seats.

Answering another query on CAA, Mr Badal said the SAD had been maintaining all along that nearly two lakh Sikhs who had fled Afghanistan and Pakistan should be given citizenship. “This is finally happening and we welcome it”.

Mr Badal also asserted the Punjab Bachao Yatra was getting an unprecedented response with people expressing complete solidarity with the SAD. “Punjabis have lost all faith in the corrupt scam tainted AAP regime and want to get rid of it as soon as possible”.

He said the AAP government did not have a single infrastructure project to its credit in the last two years. “In direct contrast Punjab witnessed all round development during the SAD tenures”, he added.

Senior leaders Adaish Partap Singh Kairon, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Pawan Kumar Tinu, Surinder Singh Bhullewal Rathan, Surjit Singh Ablowal, Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur, Harjinder Kaur and Paramjit Kaur Landran were also present on the occasion.
