To generate awareness on 3 New Criminal Laws amongst Law students, a special interactive session was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India, Jalandhar at Baba Kundan Singh Memorial Law College, here.
The awareness program was organised in coordination with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).
Under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge, SS Dhaliwal, the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Jatinderpal Singh graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the program. He called upon the students to be a good lawyer after completing their studies and help the judicial system in providing speedy justice to the needy.
Samir Gupta, Chief Legal Aid Defence Council, Moga explained about some major changes in the 3-New Criminal Laws – Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, Bhartiya Nyaye Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam – which have been implemented from July 1, across the country.
He said where the registration of e-FIR has been made easy through these laws so that general public should not have to rush to police stations at the time of need similarly laws against terrorism and Treason have been made stronger to deal with anti nationals. He also elaborated on the concept of Zero FIR.
Field Publicity Officer Rajesh Bali said that this special session has been organised for law students so that they can relate with the given information when read in their syllabus for easy grasping of the subject.
A random quiz on the there new laws was also conducted by Field Publicity Assistant Gurkamal Singh and winners were awarded.
Baba Kundan Singh Memorial Law College Principal Dalip Kumar Pati and Officiating Principal Dr Madhu were also present.
