The Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh chapter of th FICCI ladies Organisation (FLO-JKL) , the apex body of business women in the country launched WeFLO.in, the region’s first dedicated all-women job portal, designed to empower the women of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Powered by the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), this pioneering initiative was launched at a grand event attended by esteemed dignitaries and stakeholders.
The occasion was graced by Ms. Sakina Itoo, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Health & Medical Education & Social Welfare, Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. Her presence emphasized the critical importance of women’s participation in the workforce. Adding to the event’s significance,
Mrs. Joyshree Das Verma, National President of FICCI FLO, joined as Guest of Honour, and Ms. Reshma Patel, National Head of Digital Literacy Initiative, FICCI FLO and Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET attended as Distinguished Guests.
Senior government officials and dignitaries also extended their support to this landmark initiative as Special Guests, including Mr. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, J&K, Mr. Khalid Jahangir, MD JKTPO, Mr. Arun K Manhas, Director, Industries& Commerce Jammu, Mr. Rajinder K Sharma, Director, JKEDI, Mr. G Velladurai, Jt. Director, MSME J&K UT, Ladakh among others.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, highlighted the portal’s transformative potential in bridging the gap between talented women and meaningful employment opportunities. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo for her inspiring leadership and for officially inaugurating the portal.
Gratitude was also extended to Mrs. Joyshree Das Verma for her steadfast dedication to advancing women’s empowerment in business and industry, which has shaped meaningful projects such as this portal. In her presidential address, Hon’ble Minister,
Ms. Sakina Itoo congratulated FICCI FLO JKL and MIET for their pioneering initiative and trusted that women in J&K shall find suitable avenues for employment and career opportunities through the portal.
She felt that all stakeholders need to join hands to accelerate the socio-economic growth of the J&K region. She expressed confidence in the ability of the youth of the region and foresaw the region leapfrogging ahead on the path to peace, progress and development.
Mrs. Joyshree Das Verma, National Head, FICCI FLO expressed delight on her maiden visit to Jammu and extended compliments to the JKL chapter for thinking out-of-the-box to launch weflo.in, an impactful initiative with far reaching implications. She felt that the time for the J&K region to shine on the national stage had arrived and was impressed with the development work taking place in all sectors.
WeFLO.in, built with the technical expertise of MIET under the leadership of its Director, Prof. Ankur Gupta, aims to connect women job seekers with progressive employers committed to diversity and inclusivity. Prof. Gupta and his team played an instrumental role in conceptualizing and developing the platform, generously contributing financial and technical resources.
The launch also saw the felicitation of key contributors and collaborators who played a pivotal role in making this project a reality. Heads of academic institutions were recognized for their efforts in enrolling women students on the portal, ensuring a seamless connection between education and employment.
Academic partners facilitated were Prof. SP Saraswat, Principal, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Ravinder Tickoo, Principal, GCW Parade, Prof. Pragya Khanna, Principal, GLDM GDC Hiranagar, Prof. Twinkle Suri, Principal, SPPND GDC Samba. Other key dignitaries present included Ms. Priya Sethi, Former Minister BJP, Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, Mr. Ranjeet Kalra, Member J&K UT Sports Council, Mr. Sidharth Dogra, Director Jammu Links to name a few.
The event also saw in full support esteemed FLO JKL representatives including Varuna Anand, Immediate Past Chairperson, core team and FLO members. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Aarti Choudhary, Senior Vice Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, followed by a networking session over tea, leaving attendees inspired to champion this noble cause.
