Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Punjab Yogasana Sports Association (PYSA) in a formal ceremony held at the Administrative Block of the University.
The ceremony was conducted under the esteemed chairmanship of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh. From JGND PSOU, the MoU was formally signed by Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Registrar, and Dr. Amitoj Singh, Associate Dean (Academic Affairs), under the coordination of Dr. Karan Sukhija, Director, Planning & Development Division. From PYSA, the MoU was formally signed by Dr. Akalkala Sekhwan (President), Dr. Chandra Kant Mishra, S. Sarbajit Singh, and Smt. Sunita Verma.
The MoU aims to promote Yogasana as a sport and integrate it with academic and skill-based education. The collaboration will focus on organizing training programmes, workshops, certification courses, and awareness initiatives to enhance the physical and mental well-being of students and the community at large.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of such collaborations in fostering holistic education and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among learners. He reiterated the University’s commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships for academic excellence and societal development.
Faculty members, officials, and staff of the University were present during the ceremony. This initiative marks a significant step towards promoting wellness, skill development, and sports culture through collaborative efforts.
