‘May this festival bring happiness, prosperity, fresh energy’: PM Modi extends Baisakhi greetings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended warm greetings to citizens on the occasion of Baisakhi, highlighting the festival’s message of gratitude, renewal and hope, while also acknowledging the vital role of farmers in strengthening the nation.

In a post shared on X, the Prime Minister said, “Warm greetings on the joyous occasion of Baisakhi. This vibrant festival marks the spirit of gratitude, renewal and hope. It celebrates the hard work of our farmers, whose dedication keeps our nation fed. Baisakhi also carries deep spiritual significance, marking the founding of the Khalsa Panth by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The teachings of the revered Sikh Gurus continue to inspire us all in the collective effort to build a better society. May this festival bring happiness, prosperity and fresh energy in everyone’s lives.”

The Prime Minister’s message underscored both the agricultural and spiritual importance of the festival, which is widely celebrated in Punjab and other parts of the country as a harvest festival and a cultural milestone marking new beginnings.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also shared his wishes on X, extending greetings to citizens on the festival.

“Heartfelt congratulations to all of you on the festival of Baisakhi. May this festival bring heaps of happiness and prosperity into your lives,” he said.

Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge also issued a message extending warm wishes on the occasion of multiple regional festivals, including Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu, Puthandu, Poila Baisakh, Biju, and Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti. He said these festivals mark the arrival of the new year in different parts of India and bring renewed hope, optimism, and a spirit of fresh beginnings.

“Marking the arrival of the new year in different parts of our country, these festivals bring with them renewed hope, optimism and the spirit of fresh beginnings. May these celebrations fill every home with joy, usher in prosperity, and strengthen the bonds of unity and amity among all,” said Kharge.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended greetings, calling Baisakhi a symbol of India’s rich agricultural heritage and vibrant folk traditions.

In his post on X, he conveyed heartfelt congratulations to farmers, the Sikh community, and residents of the state, wishing that the festival brings happiness, prosperity, and renewed energy to all.

“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the food-giving farmers, Sikh brothers, and residents of the state on the sacred festival of Baisakhi, a symbol of India’s rich agricultural tradition and the glorious heritage of folk festivals. May this sacred festival of enthusiasm and zeal infuse happiness, prosperity, and new energy into everyone’s life — this is the auspicious wish,” CM Yogi posted on X.

Across political lines, leaders joined in celebrating Baisakhi, emphasising its significance as both a cultural and agricultural festival that reflects India’s diversity, traditions, and shared spirit of renewal.(Agency)
