Youth and Women should lead in Panchayat elections: Lok Ekta Mission

Eminent elder citizens have come together to appeal educated youth and women to utilize panchayat elections as an opportunity to bring in focus “credible new young leadership for society,” to provide alternative to corrupt and incompetent politicians engaged in destroying Punjab since dacades.

Punjabi films Icon Padamshri Nirmal Rishi, national awardee young sapanch Sheshandeep Kaur Sidhu and High Court Advocate Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, urged youth and women today to unitedly lead the society from the forefront, during panchayat elections, to “Save Punjab from further decay.”

Interacting with media at Chandigarh Press Club, from “Lok-Ekta” platform here today, they have appealed youth not to lose the golden opertunity to elect upright and educated panches/sarpanches uninamously on merit, next month during panchayat elections to save Punjab’s existence, its culture, resources and future of coming generations.

“Political factionalism has played havoc with rural folks,” maintained ‘Lok Ekta Mission, a public initiative spearheaded by ‘Lok-Raj’ Punjab, that has got overhelming response from prestigious public spirited organisations and personalities in this regard.

Convener of Lok Ekta Mission Dr Manjit Singh Randhawa maintained, that with sinister “policy of divide and rule” inherited from “Colonial British masters ,” dishonest politicians , in their vested interest have destoyed ages old examplary peace, harmony and health of rural life.

Punjab and Haryana former Justice Ranjit Singh Randhawa maintained that loss of impariality of politically factional panchayats have cost very dearly on delivery of timely justice. Revival of uninamously elected “impartial panchayats will definitely lessen the burden of unmanageable pendency in judiciary at all levels.”

Padamshri and KirtiChakra awardee, well known for his honesty and best-governance, S Swarn Singh Boparai said that during past dacades politicians have resorted to divide punjab villages thus degrading village status to that of beggars.

With the more political parties entering in the political arena, divide in villages would be further aggravated and would prove crippling and fatal for Rural-Punjab.

Of late, Bhagat Puran Singh Pingalwara Society Chairperson Padamshri Dr Inderjit Kaur, former Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Ranjit Singh Randhawa, former Union Secretary & Chairman ‘Kirti Kisan Forum’ Padamshri S Swarn Singh Boparai and now Punjabi Films Icon Padamshri Nirmal Rishi have joined the public movement launched to save rural Punjab from factionalism at grassroots level .

‘Culture and Heritage Conservation Initiative’ President, Advocate Gursimrat Singh Randhawa asserted that there are five essentials – land, water, language, culture and heritage for the survival of a civilization. Unfortunately in case of Punjabi Civilization, all of these are facing agrave risk. It is prime responsibility of all Punjabis to come together to save these.
