Punjab Road Safety Council is organizing a “Workshop on Emergency Care and the Schemes for the benefit of the road accident victims in Punjab” on August 20, 2024 at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Public Administration Auditorium (MGSIPA), Sector-26, Chandigarh to enhance understanding and implementation of emergency care and compensation schemes for road accident victims in the state.
An official spokesperson of the transport department said that Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh will inaugurate the workshop, while Transport and Rural Development and Panchayats Minister S. Lajit Singh Bhullar will chair the closing ceremony.
He said that district administration officers (SDM & above), Member Secretaries of District Legal Services Authority, District Traffic Police Officers (DSP & above), Health Department officers (Assistant Civil Surgeon & above), Transport officers (RTO & above), Secretaries of District Red Cross Societies, In-charges of Highway patrol vehicles from Sadak Surakhiya Force and representatives of NGOs working for road safety will participate in a long day workshop.
The workshop will cover the issues such as “Essentials of Emergency Care” by a team of doctors from PGI, “Implementation of Farishtay Scheme in Punjab” by State Health Authority, “Implementation of the Compensation of Hit & Run Motor Accident Scheme” by Ms. Smriti Dhir, Additional Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, “Transfer of Compensation under Hit & Run Scheme” by Mrs. Madhulika Bhaskar, Deputy Secretary, General Insurance Council, Mumbai. Each presentation will be followed by panel discussions with guest speakers, he added.
