9 Indian girls who were trafficked and sold in Gulf countries by travel agents have returned home. These girls were sold by travel agents in Iraq, Oman and Qatar for a huge amount of money. But these girls were unaware of this. The girls who returned from Gulf countries told that 20 to 25 girls are still stuck in one place in Oman.
Where helpless girls are being treated worse than animals. The girls who returned told that as soon as they came out of the airport, first of all their passports were taken from them and they were kept in a multi-storey building, which agents used as an office.
From here the girls were sent to work and when they returned to the office, they were locked in a room. These girls said that these rooms were like a prison for them as these rooms were kept locked from outside.
Three of these girls reached Nirmal Kutiya Sultanpur Lodhi today. Narrating their ordeal, they told how they were subjected to inhuman torture by luring them with a salary of 35 to 40 thousand per month in Gulf countries. It is worth mentioning that more than 100 girls have been brought home safely from Gulf countries by Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal.
A girl from a village in district Jalandhar who had recently returned from Iraq. The female travel agent tortured her to such an extent that she is still unable to recover from this shock. Her mother, who came with this girl, told that her daughter was taken to Iraq by her aunt. Her aunt is still threatening her and demanding the money spent in Iraq.
The mother of the victim girl said that her daughter was tortured so much that even after coming back, the girl is in depression. when she returned home, She lives in fear and trauma.
Another victim from Oman living in district Jalandhar told that she was sent there to work in house. There she was very ill-treated and physically exploited. The victim told that when she protested she was beaten badly.
Seechewal’s Appeal to People of Punjab
Rajya Sabha Member and Environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal again appealed to the people of Punjab to avoid sending their daughters to these Gulf countries. Sant Seechewal said that the stories of girls trapped in Arab countries are very sad, how travel agents and especially the relatives of the victim girls take these girls to Arab countries and trap them with the greed of some money.
They lure them by promising good salary and good future and later leave them to live a hellish life in those countries. Where they have to bear various kinds of tortures and it becomes difficult for them to return,
