Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested a Sub-Inspector, an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Department, and a Clerk of Chakbandi office while demanding and accepting bribes worth Rs 80,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Sharing the information in this regard here today, a spokesperson of the Bureau said that in the first case, Bureau team had arrested Sub Inspector Kuldeep Singh posted as SHO Kunjapura police station and ASI Rakesh Kumar for demanding Rs 80,000 bribe from the complainant in lieu of removing his name from FIR. Vigilance has also booked Sub Inspector Rajender of Kunjpura thana, who is absconding.
In another case, Clerk Satbir of Chakbandi office in Karnal has been caught red-handed by the Vigilance Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from complainant. The accused clerk was demanding bribe of Rs 4 lakh and accepted Rs 50,000 as first installment for deciding an appeal in favour of the complainant. Bureau team also booked Nafe Singh, Kanungo, posted in Chakbandi office Karnal, who is absconding.
Cases under the relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code had been registered against the accused in Bureau’s police station Karnal. Further investigation of the cases is in progress.
