Abohar/Bikaner, July 11, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)
Even as the main suspects in the daylight killing of garment showroom co-owner Sanjay Verma remain at large, authorities have made critical progress in the investigation. Fazilka SSP Gurmeet Singh announced the arrest of three men from Bikaner, Rajasthan, allegedly involved in sheltering the shooters who fled the scene.
Verma, co-owner of the ‘New Wear Well’ showroom on July 7, was fatally shot outside his store in broad daylight. The assailants, riding a bike, abandoned it shortly after the attack and escaped in a Swift car.
The latest arrests were identified as Inderpal Bishnoi and two associates, believed to have sheltered the shooters in Bikaner. According to police, these individuals received ₹1.40 lakh transferred from abroad, suggesting the crime may have been financed externally.
With these arrests, the total number of people held in connection with the case has risen to five. Two earlier suspects, Jaspreet Singh and Ram Rattan, were killed during a police encounter as they allegedly sat in the front seat of the getaway Swift vehicle.
SSP Singh stated that law enforcement agencies are continuing their coordinated efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining gunmen. Investigators are analyzing cross-border financial transactions and verifying shelter networks linked to the accused.
This case underscores the fast-paced collaboration between Punjab and Rajasthan law enforcement in tackling cross-state criminal activity and is a testament to the commitment to bringing justice for Sanjay Verma’s tragic murder.
